Chandarayaan-1(Mission Moon) Lost Radio Contact.

Radio contact with Chandrayaan-I (India’s Mission Moon)spacecraft was abruptly lost at 0130 Hrs (IST) on August 29, 2009. Deep Space Network at Byalalu near Bangalore received the data from Chandrayaan-I during the previous orbit up to 0025 Hrs (IST).

Its not the condition to worry, because the mission chandrayaan1 has reached 99% of its goal. It's not new in the world of astronomy, it also happened in mission Mars.

It may be recalled that Chandrayaan-I spacecraft was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota on October 22, 2008 .The Spacecraft has completed 312 days in orbit making more than 3400 orbits around the Moon and providing large volume of data from sophisticated sensors like Terrain Mapping Camera, Hyper-spectral Imager, Moon Mineralogy Mapper etc., meeting most of the scientific objectives of the mission.

Six Cubesats+Oceansat-2 Launched By PSLV C14, ISRO.

India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C14, in its 16^th Mission launched 958 kg Oceansat-2 and six nano-satellites into a 720 km. intended Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO) on September 23, 2009, before this PSLV has launched multiple satellites into orbit with the maximum number being 10 during PSLV-C9 mission in April 2008. Four CUBESATs and Two RUBIN are the foreign satellites launched by PSLV-C14 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota on Sept. 23, 2009 along with the main satellite - Oceansat-2.

The four CUBESATs are educational satellites from European universities, each weighing around one(1) kg. and developed to perform technology demonstration in space. The satellites are launched inside a Single Picosatellite Launcher (SPL) also weighing one kg., which is a dedicated European launch adaptor to deploy a CubeSat.

CUBESAT-1: UWE-2, from the Universität Würzburg, Germany

UWE-2 is a pico satellite, with the mission objective of demonstration of a newly developed Attitude Determination and Control system (ADCS) and the technology demonstration of a GPS on a Cubesat.

CUBESAT-2: BeeSat, from the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany

BeeSat is a pico satellite project of the Technical University of Berlin with the main objective of on-orbit verification of newly developed micro reaction wheels for pico satellite applications and will demonstrate the use of coin sized micro reaction wheels for attitude control of pico satellites in orbit as one of the key elements

CUBESAT-3: ITU-pSAT1, from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey

The primary mission of the satellite is to examine the performance of an on-board passive stability system consisting of a magnet which will align the satellite to the magnetic field of the Earth with an error of about 15 degrees according to simulations, and to verify this figure. A secondary objective is to download photographs taken using a camera with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels

CUBESAT-4: SwissCube, from Ecole Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne, Switzerland

The SwissCube mission objective is to house a science payload and take optical measurements and characterize the airglow intensity over selected latitudes and longitudes thereby demonstrating that the airglow emissions are strong enough to be measured by an off-the-shelf detector and validating the concept for the development of a low-cost Earth sensor.

RUBIN-9 consists of two Spacecrafts Rubin-9.1 and Rubin-9.2 weighing 8kg each and will primarily be used for the Automatic Identification System (AIS) for Maritime applications. These are non-separable payloads that will be mounted at an angle of 45deg to the PSLV EB deck.

Rubin-9.1 is developed by Luxspace and has a mission objective of providing an insight into the issue of message collisions that limit detection in areas of dense shipping.

The main purpose of the Rubin-9.2 spacecraft is to test and qualify nano technologies from Angstrom company Sweden and to continue space based maritime Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver experiments (started with Rubin-7 and Rubin-8 missions). The eight band Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) payload carried by Oceansat-2 images a swath (strip of land or ocean) of 1420 km width with a resolution of 360 metre and works in the Visible and Near Infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The Ku-band Scatterometer with a 1 metre diameter antenna rotating at 20 rpm, works at a frequency of 13.515 GHz. The Scatterometer covers a swath of 1400 km and operates continuously. ROSA is a GPS Receiver for atmospheric sounding by radio occultation built by Italian Space Agency (ASI).

Soon after separation from PSLV fourth stage, the two solar panels of OCEANSAT-2 were automatically deployed.

Oceansat-2 satellite mainframe systems derive their heritage from previous IRS missions and launched by PSLV-C14 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota on Sept. 23, 2009. It carries three payloads:

*Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM)

*Ku-band Pencil Beam scatterometer (SCAT) developed by ISRO

*Radio Occultation Sounder for Atmosphere (ROSA) developed by the Italian Space Agency.

Oceansat-2 is envisaged to provide continuity of operational services of Oceansat-1(IRS-P4) with enhanced application potential.

PSLV C14, 7 Satellites Launched By ISRO, All Details.

It's the biggest day in the history of India as India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C14, in its 16^th Mission launched 958 kg Oceansat-2 and six nano-satellites into a 720 km. intended Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO) on September 23, 2009, before this PSLV has launched multiple satellites into orbit with the maximum number being 10 during PSLV-C9 mission in April 2008.

PSLV is a four-stage launch vehicle employing both solid and liquid propulsion stages. PSLV is the trusted workhorse launch Vehicle of ISRO. During Sep. 1993 - Apr. 2009 period, PSLV had fifteen launches of which fourteen were consecutively successful. PSLV has repeatedly proved its reliability and versatility by launching 39 spacecrafts (17 Indian and 22 for international customers) into a variety of orbits so far. It may be recalled that during its previous mission, PSLV had successfully launched RISAT-2 and ANUSAT spacecrafts on April 20, 2009.

In its standard configuration, the 44 m tall PSLV has a lift-off mass of 295 tonne. It is a four-stage launch vehicle with the first and the third stages as well as the six strap-ons surrounding the first stage using HTPB based solid propellant. PSLV's first stage is one of the largest solid propellant boosters in the world. Its second and fourth stages use liquid propellants.

This mission is unique for PSLV as this is the first time that new AMC/ATS based avionics is being used for a typical SSPO mission. A Core Alone configuration of the vehicle with PS4 L2.5 stage is being employed to put the satellites in orbit. This is the fifth mission of PSLV in Core alone configuration.

Major changes are:

• PS4 to use L2.5 stage

• First time use of ECI frame and Quaternion based computation for SSPO mission

• Introduction of a 45° inclined deck to mount Rubin spacecrafts on EB

• CUBESATs are separated using a separation system SPL supplied along with S/C by the user.

In its sixteenth flight conducted from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota today (September 23, 2009), ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C14 successfully launched the 960 kg Indian remote sensing satellite Oceansat-2 and six nano satellites for international customers into a polar Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO). This was the fifteenth successful flight of PSLV. 

After a 51 hour count down, PSLV-C14 lifted off from the first launch pad at SDSC SHAR, at 11:51 am IST with the ignition of the core first stage. The important flight events included the separation of the first stage, ignition of the second stage, separation of the payload fairing at about 125 km altitude after the vehicle had cleared the dense atmosphere, second stage separation, third stage ignition, third stage separation, fourth stage ignition and fourth stage cut-off.

The 960 kg main payload, Oceansat-2, was the first satellite to be injected into orbit at 1081 seconds after lift-off at an altitude of 728 km. About 45 seconds later, four of the six nano satellites were separated in sequence. The initial signals indicate normal health of the satellites.

The satellite's health is continuously monitored from the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Networks (ISTRAC) Spacecraft Control Centre at Bangalore with the help of a network of ground stations at Bangalore, Lucknow, Mauritius, Biak in Indonesia and Svalbard and Tromso in Norway as well as a station in Troll, Antarctica.

PSLV-C14 mission carried six nano satellites - Cubesat 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as Rubin 9.1 and 9.2 - as auxiliary payloads along with Oceansat - 2. The weight of these nano satellites was in 2-8 kg range. Oceansat - 2 and the six auxiliary payloads were placed in a polar Sun Synchronous Orbit inclined at an angle of 98.28 degree to the equator.

The auxiliary payloads of PSLV-C14 are educational satellites from European Universities and are intended to test new technologies. After the separation of Oceansat - 2 from PSLV - C14, the four cubesats were also separated, while Rubin 9.1 and 9.2 remain permanently remain attached to the upper stage of PSLV-C14.

The 44.4 metre (147 ft) tall PSLV - C14 weighed 230 tons at lift-off. PSLV - C14 is the core alone version of PSLV which is the same as PSLV standard configuration except for the strap-on motors. Six such strap-ons surround the first stage of PSLV standard configuration, but are absent in core alone version. PSLV-C14 was the fifth core alone mission of PSLV.

PSLV - C14 had four stages using solid and liquid propulsion systems alternately. The first stage, carrying 139 tonne of propellant, is one of the largest solid propellent boosters in the world. The second stage carried 41.5 tonne of liquid propellant. The third stage used 7.6 tonne of solid propellant and the fourth had a twin engine configuration with 2.5 tonne of liquid propellent.

This was the sixteenth mission of ISROs workhorse launch vehicle PSLV and its fifteenth consecutive success. From October 1994 onwards, PSLV has repeatedly proved its reliability, robust design and versatility by launching satellites into polar Sun Synchronous, Geosynchronous Transfer, Low Earth and Highly Elliptical Orbits. Of the 39 satellites launched by PSLV so far, 17 have been Indian and the rest being satellites from abroad. During many of its missions, including todays PSLV-C14, PSLV has launched multiple satellites into orbit with the maximum number being 10 during PSLV-C9 mission in April 2008.

Bacterial Computers Are The Feature,E-Coli Bacteria.

Researchers in the US have developed bacterial computers that can revolutionise genetic research. The research team, including scientists from Missouri Western State University and Davidson and Davidson college in North Carolina, USA, engineered the DNA of Escherichia coli bacteria or E-Coli Bacteria and created bacterial computers capable of solving a classic mathematical problem known as the Hamiltonian path problem. The Hamiltonian path problem asks whether there is a route in a network from a beginning node to an ending node, visiting each node exactly ones. Alternatively, a computer made from millions of bacteria can look at every route simultaneously. The biological world also has other advantages. As time goes by, a bacterial computer will actually increase in power as the bacteria reproduce.

The researchers modified the genetic circuitry of the bacteria e coli bacteria to enable them to find a Hamiltonian path in a three Node graph. Bacteria that successfully solved the problem reported their success by fluorescing both Red and Green, resulting in Yellow colonies. . The second-generation bacterial computers illustrate the feasibility of extending the approach to other computationally challenging math problems. The research extends previous work published last year in the same journal to produce bacterial computers that could solve the Burnt Pancake Problem.

"Our research contributed more than 60 parts to the Registry of Standard Biological Parts, which are available for use by the larger synthetic biology community, including the newly split red fluorescent protein (bacterial protein) and green fluorescent protein genes," said Jordan Baumgardner, recent graduate of Missouri Western and first author of the research paper. "The research provides yet another example of how powerful and dynamic synthetic biology can be. We used synthetic biology to solve mathematical problems; others find applications in medicine, energy and the environment. Synthetic biology has great potential in the real world." Computers are evolving – literally. While the tech world argues netbooks vs. notebooks, synthetic biologists are leaving traditional computers behind altogether. Now scientists can have the measurements of happiness, till now their ware no instruments to measure the happiness.

Scientists in the United States have created a sensor that is capable of measuring happiness of the people. Mathematician Peter Dodds and Computer Scientist Chris Danforth, working in the Advanced Computing Centre at the Advanced Computing Centre at the University of Vermont, have developed a mechanism of Bloggers. The Bloggers writing Personal Blogs Online gives the opportunity to scale and measurement the emotional levels in real time as the scientists wrote in their study available in the online edition of Journal of Happiness Studies.

Dodds gathered nearly 10 million sentences from their site. Then, drawing on a standardized "psychological valence" of words established by the Affective Norms for English Words (ANEW) study, each sentence receives a happiness score. In the ANEW study, a large pool of participants graded their reaction to 1,034 words, forming a kind of "happy-unhappy" scale from 1 to 9. For example, "triumphant" averaged 8.87, "paradise" 8.72, "pancakes" 6.08, "vanity" 4.30, "hostage" 2.20, and "suicide" 1.25. The sentence "I feel lazy" would receive a score of 4.38. "Our method is only reasonable for large-scale texts, like what's available on the Web," Dodds says. "Any one sentence might not show much. There's too much variability in individual expression." But that's the beauty of big data sets and statistics. Swine Flu Protection With Mask. Know Which & How.

Swine Flu can be prevented with the proper use of masks, there are three types of masks available in the market. You should know about the masks which can prevent you from the Swine Flu. There are three (3) types of masks available for the protection from Swine Flu, H1N1 influenza.

The Paper Mask: Paper face masks offers little protection against viruses as they do not have a filter. Anything with a diameter less than 5microns will be able to pass  through the paper mask and thus into the respiratory system.

Advantages of using Paper Mask: Easily available or can be easily constructed. People who serve food can use it for Hygiene. Also those who have Cough and Cold can use it for precautions.

Disadvantages of Using Paper Mask: Can easily spoil. Can tear easily tear because of moisture. Minimal protection against viruses.

The N-95 Mask: It is effective in catching very small particles, because of material used generates electrostatic charges. Particles(viruses) above 0.3microns can’t pass through it. Used to get protections against highly transmissible respiratory infections.

Advantages of Using N-95 Mask: Made of Polypropylene fiber it uses a Nonwoven Technology that increases the density and improves the filtering functions. Gives maximum protection against Swine Flu H1N1 Influenza viruses.

Disadvantages of using N-95 Mask: It can be suffocating can experience breathing difficulties. Children can’t wear properly. It is costly and difficult to get easily.

How To use(Wear) these masks: Choose a small or proper size mask of your size. Pull the head bands lose, metallic strip should be uppermost, pass the hand through headbands.

Put on mask, head bands should be around the head and neck.

Press the metallic strip on both sides above your nose with forefingers and middle fingers on both sides.

Cover mask gently with both hands. Breathe with deliberation, and take care that air  should not leak out from sides.

If you can’t afford the mask or if it is not available at you place due to some reason than remember to wear the cotton mask made by handkerchief it is better than nothing. To stop spreading Swine Flu H1N1 Influenza viruses and prevent yourself from infection.
