Swine Flu Treatments and Precautions.

In my last post I wrote about What Is Swine Flu H1N1 Viruses and Its Symptoms. Now we will know what are the Swine Flu Treatments, Medicines and Precautions.

Swine Flu symptoms are very similar like normal flu. Swine flu H1N1 is a respiratory disease. It uses to block your respiratory systems. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, tiredness, aching muscles, sneezing, runny nose or loss of appetite, headache, chills and fatigue. Swine flu in humans is most contagious during the first five days of the illness. Some of the symptoms are the sudden onset of fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

What are the Swine Flu Treatments and Medicines: - It’s a viral disease so; antiviral drugs can be used to treat swine flu or to prevent infection with swine flu viruses. The anti-viral medicines Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza) are being used to treat people with swine flu. Antiviral drugs work by preventing the flu virus from reproducing. It’s only effective when you take them within 48 hours of the symptoms beginning. These flu drugs can decrease the duration of the flu by 1 to 2 days if used within this early time period. These antivirals are usually given for a period of about 5-7 days.

It's not compulsory that these drugs can prevent complications of the flu. Tamiflu is approved for prevention and treatment in people 1 year old and older. These medicines to be taken only from the prescribed doctors, because these medicines can cause several side effects, and once taken can’t be taken next time, because Swine Flu viruse changes its DNA structures according to anti-viral medicines.

Side effects of antiviral drugs may include nervousness, poor concentration, nausea, and vomiting. Few medicines are not recommended for people with a history of breathing problems, such as asthma, because it may cause a worsening of breathing problems. Discuss side effects with your doctor.
Never take antibiotics yourself, always consult with your doctor, chances are that antibiotics will not help your flu symptoms. That's because flu, colds, and most sore throats and bronchitis are caused by viruses. In addition, taking antibiotics when you have a virus may do more harm than good. Taking antibiotics when they are not needed increases your risk of getting an infection later that resists antibiotic treatment. Antibiotics only cure certain infections due to bacteria -- and if taken carelessly, you may get more serious health problems than you bargained for.
Till date July 2009 there isn’t any vaccine on Swine Flu. But vaccines are being made in large quantities. Clinical tests is started in August 2009.

WHAT IS SWINE FLU, H1N1 VIRUSE:- These word Swine Flu , H1N1 I never heard before in my life. I gone through many news papers and health organisation articles to know about Swin Flu/Swine Flu H1N1. It has two genes from flu viruses that normally circulate in pigs in Europe and Asia and avian genes and human genes. Scientists call this a “quadruple reassortant” virus.

6 Dechlorination Methods For Aquarium Water.

As I wrote in my last post, about my aquarium (fish pond), due to chlorine water how my fish started dyeing within an hour. It was all because of Chlorine added water, in our tap for domestic use. The Chlorine added water is harm full for the fish in aquarium. So here the process of Dechlorination comes into the picture. Dechlorination of the normal drinking water is necessary if you want to use it for aquarium (Dechlorination is necessary only if your home water which comes through the water supplier having Chlorine or chloramine added into it, but most probably all water supplied for drinking, having little percentage of chlorine added into it, and it is not harm full for human beings).

If you want to use tap water or normal drinking water for aquarium, than you have to prepare tap water for aquarium use and that is nothing but Dechlorination. So what is Dechlorination? Or what is Dechlorinator? Dechlorinator is nothing but chlorine remover or water conditioner, chemical used to add into the chlorinated water for removing chlorine from normal water.

Dechlorination Method 1 To Remove Chlorine From Aquarium Water :- You can get the Dechlorinator from your local pet shop. Always ask the dose of the Dechlorinator to the shop from where you are purchasing always read the instructions on the label of Dechlorinator, how to use etc.. Normal dose of Dechlorinator is 1 Drop for 2 Gallon. You may be wondering about Gallon? and Litres? Ok! 1 Gallon(US) = 3.78541 Litres. Or 1 Litre = 0.2641 Gallon(US). Is it ok! You only need to treat new adding water with Dechlorinator. Only within 5 minuets water is Dechlorinated using Dechlorinator also it depends upon the quantity of water.

Dechlorination Method 2 To Remove Chlorine From Aquarium Water :- Chlorine is very volatile. So keeping it stand still for 48 hours, it (chlorine) will evaporate from water. Than you can use the water for your aquarium. If your water is treated with chloramines than it become necessary to use Dechlorinator which can remove Chloramines from water.

Dechlorination Method 3 To Remove Chlorine From Aquarium Water :- Bubbling Air inside the water with air stone(machine used in aquarium to blow air) can remove Chlorine very faster from chlorinated water. But I will suggest you to keep bubbling through air stone for 24 Hours, and thus it will remove chlorine from tap water, and you can use it for your aquarium. Again, If your water is treated with chloramines than it become necessary to use Dechlorinator which can remove Chloramines from water.

Dechlorination Method 4 To Remove Chlorine From Aquarium Water :- Boil the water to be added in aquarium, and keep over night to cool. Pour (add) the fully cooled water in the aquarium. The boiling process evaporates the chlorine from water. You will not be able to boil all aquarium water at a time, so boil in small quantities, keep it to cool away from people, and only add the water to fish tank or aquarium after fully cooling. You can also fill your aquarium in day by day, using this process. But always make sure to match the temperature of water (aquarium water and the water which you are adding) before adding it to aquarium.

Dechlorination Method 5 To Remove Chlorine From Aquarium Water :- You can use bore water or bore wall or well water for your aquarium, as these water doesn’t contain high percentage of Chlorine or even it is Chlorine less. Aquarium(FishTank),Fish Died due to Chlorine Water.

We first time at home planed for Fish tank (Aquarium), and given the order for glass type fish tank at local glass dealer(shop). The dimension is 3 feet by 1.5 feet, with 10mm glass. The glass vendor assembled the fish tank at our home itself because after assembling of aquarium (Fish Tank) it is not easy to carry it from one place to other, they use to stick the glass with Silicon Rubber or Silicon gel. The brand of Silicon sealing compound I found with my glass vendor was of “GP silicon sealing” made from German technology, it was of 280ml, the site mentioned on the silicon tube was www.wacker.com, visit and find more details if you want or you can get silicon sealing material in tube at any glass vendor. It took 3-4 days to dry and we were very eager to put water into it. We on our bathroom tap, connected a pipe to it and started filling the aquarium (Fish Tank). It took more than 15 minuets to fill 1/3 of the tank it is about 100 litters of water volume. We ware suggested by the aquarium person that to keep the aquarium filled for 2-3 days, for testing the leak. So again we have to wait for few days to see coloured fishes swimming into the tank .

Oh! What we saw at night was, our aquarium started leaking heavily suddenly. We all at home gathered and .......... started cleaning water from the floor. Again at morning we called the aquarium person, he come our home with the silicon rubber tube , and again filled silicon gel at all joints (joints of the glass). What Next? Again have to wait for 2-3 days......

This time I decided to put few fishes immediately after filling water into the tank, and decided not to test it for leaking. As at home everybody was not happy because this fish tank game was continuing from last 10-12 days.

Now the day has come and I bought 16 fishes (8 sets) from local aquarium shop, all 8 sets of fishes ware beautiful, coloured and costly too, all though it cost me 1200Rs.(INR) round figure. We all in the family gathered, start filling the tank with tap water, and set free all fishes in to the huge aquarium, everybody started clapping. Everybody was happy and very eagerly looking at the fish activities.... and I went out of home for some work.

Oh God! When I returned home what I saw was shocking...... 6 sets(12 fishes) of fishes from 8(16 fishes) sets were dead into the tank, only 4 of them ware swimming into the aquarium/ fish tank, but they ware also little unconscious. It was huge loss, all of my family members were in shock everybody was questioning and discussing that how they died?

At last I come to the point that water into the tank was poisonous for the fish, water into the tap at our home supplied for drinking is chlorinated (Chlorine added water), and chlorinated water is poisonous for the aquarium fish it needs to be dechlorinated.
