Design Indian Rupee Symbol, Design Competition

Now you (All Indians) can design your currency (Indian currency). Here is a good opportunity for all Indians. It is organised in the form of a currency design competition. The step has been taken by an Indian Government, Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, New Delhi.currency symbols hand drawing

Many country in world have their currency symbols, Ex. US dollar ($),€ for euro etc. How much easy it will become to popularise the new Indian symbol on international stage, and another question is that, how friendly it will be with millions of computer keyboards in the world, in this electronics age.

The Government of India proposes to have a symbol for the Indian Rupee to be selected through public competition. Accordingly, all Resident Indians (both Professional artists and Non-professionals) are hereby invited to participate in a Competition for design of the 'Symbol for Indian Rupee’.

How to submit your design entries?  Interested persons may send their entries, along with a bank draft of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) in favour of the Pay & Accounts Officer, Department of Economic Affairs, New Delhi, drawn on a scheduled commercial bank/nationalised bank at New Delhi as registration fee, to the:-

Under Secretary (Currency), Department of Economic Affairs, North Block, New Delhi-110001

It should reach latest by 1300 hours on 15th April 2009. Entries received after the stipulated time shall not be entertained and returned unopened. The Department shall not be responsible for delay by postal services, courier agencies etc. The entries can also be deposited personally at the:-

Information & Facilitation Counter of the Department, Near Gate No. 8, North Block, New Delhi.

The entries should be sent in  a properly sealed envelope labelled "Entry for Symbol for the Indian Rupee". The entry should be accompanied by a brief explanation of the Design and how it best symbolizes the Indian Rupee and also the bio-data of the applicant with a passport size photograph affixed on the top right hand corner. First five entries will be selected and each will be rewarded with Rs. 25,000/-.  Final winner will receive the price of Rs. 250,000.

One more question I have is, why the government is demanding for D.D of Rs.500. Why not it is open for all/free or why not it is Rs.100, let’s give a chance to a person from slum, let the art and knowledge come out, and let him/her become “Slum Dog Millionaire”.

The more information and guidelines for preparing entries, other conditions and selection process are available on the website of the Ministry of Finance http://finmin.nic.in   For all details about Indian currency symbol design competition you can download this PDF form from :- http://finmin.nic.in/the_ministry/dept_eco_affairs/currency_coinage/Comp_Design.pdf

2 Hours TV a Day, Developing "Asthma" In Your Child.

Young children who spend more than or nearly two hours glued to the idiot Box (TV) every day double their risk of developing Asthma, a UK study has found. The study, published in the journal Thorax, was based on more than 3,000 children whose respiratory health was tracked from birth to 11.5 years of age.

The parents were quizzed annually on symptoms of wheezing among their offspring and whether a doctor had diagnosed asthma in their child by the time he/she was 7.5 years old, but not before the age of 3.5 years. 2 Hrs Tv Asthma

Parents were also asked to assess their children's TV viewing habits from the age of 3.5 years, and these were subsequently compared with those of their symptomless peers.

The prevalence of asthma among children at the age of 11.5 years, who had no asthmatic symptoms when they were 3.5 years old was 6%.

However, children who watched TV for more than two hours a day were almost twice as likely to have been diagnosed with asthma as those who watched the idiot box less.

The amount of time spent in front of the idiot box is getting used to develop Asthama in your child.
